Description

This machine is a Singer model 29-4 made in 1917. This was commonly called a “Boot Patcher” because it was designed for cobblers working on boots, hence the long, narrow free arm. The needle plate can be spun 180° and it has two different sizes of needle ports to accomodate a wide range of needle sizes. It also has a rare feature: the feed rotates 360° so it can sew in any direction. The belt can be moved between two different sheave sets which gives it two operating speeds, also uncommon for a treadle. Because of how they were used it is rare to see one with the decals in pristine condition like these.

A bit more formal than a standard-issue t-shirt, the ultra cotton long sleeve tee is a clear comfort winner. The sleeves also act as a nice frame. There are no side seams. The shoulders are taped for improved durability. This makes for a good fitting around the shoulders and neck. The cotton used for these shirts is environmentally friendly.
